Scheduling works for me too. That and I tell myself I can't have any fun until I've finished projects on my to-do list. Threatening myself seems to work real well. No Fun until the work is done!

Digi - Did I fail to mention that I, too, am a confirmed procrastinator? By hey, I've got 3 months to sort this all out, right? Easy peasy! (But seriously, I'm keeping my fingers crossed!)

Great article, Tamar. Your task list is daunting to this conmfirmed procrastinator. Hopefully, watching you complete them will motivate (or shame) me into taking more action. ;-)

Hey Conor, thanks for the tips! And you're absolutely right about not doing the easy stuff first - that's why I set dates as deadlines.
And I really appreciate the encouragement!

Hey Tamar, great start!
One of the things that helps me keep on track is actually to close the door and let others deal with the daily stuff some days. My Monday afternoons are a "do not disturb" time. From usually 2pm to 9pm my door is closed, phone is off, music is turned up and I'm in my own world getting work done and clients organized. The unfortuante thing about task lists is that it will ALWAYS be there. Laundry will always pile up and room will still be a mess (even after I clean it). Don't look at your list as "this ones easy, I'll do that first" - go through them in order of importance. If that means spending 16 hours to finish one task, then that's what needs to be done.

Keep your head down, ignore the world, meet your book and advertising goals - you'll be fine! Small steps forward is still forward progress!

Neil, thanks for the great idea. I have my calendar, but that can easily get lost under a pile of papers or folders...But taping it up on the wall - that would be hard to ignore! And I need all the help I can get! :-) As for luck...I'm glad YOU'RE confident I don't need it! ;-)

Danita, thanks for cheering me on. It really is a challenge, doing the home/work balancing act. One thing that I'm learning, though, is that I work better when scheduled. As strange as that may seem, if I actually schedule my work time AND my family/relax time, then they get done! Well, so far, at least! Check back in two weeks to see how I'm really doing! :-)

Tamar,
Good stuff. Sounds like you're on the right track. One thing I do that helps me is to tape my goals up on the wall in a place where they stare me in the eye ... every day, mocking me. Just a thought. It's soooooo easy to get off the beaten marketing track or to trip on that unseen rock just around the corner.

Good luck in your efforts. Nah, you don't need no stinkin' luck. :-)
