Weekly Recap:
BoDo with a lot of firsts

What’d we do this week plus? Well, amongst other things, we launched (!)

After planning, designing, coding, writing, waiting, dealing with clients and life, writing some more, coding some more, well, here we are. We finally made it.

And since a blog needs to have a few posts before going live, we launched without you. How’s that for a first?

The weeks running up to the launch were spent in manic mode. Part elation that it was finally going to happen. Part fear that it was finally going to happen.

Late one night while typing back and forth, having been there done that many times, Liz Strauss (in empathy), sent over Steve Farber’s YouTube, too. What a hoot!

The next email followed with …

And what does everyone say when they get to the bottom of that hill?
Let’s do it again!!

Jay and I roared ourselves silly over the visuals (it’s been that kind of three weeks). Thanks Liz! We needed that.

Then several days after, in the middle of Liz’s late night, she sent over the url to HER secret project she was working on. The one that lot’s of people started blogging about on February 18th.

Are we ALL crazy? Or what?

My vote is for crazy. Why? Because even as I’m writing this (the week before the launch). I can already imagine the WHOOSH! of fast moving air scraping the soles of my feet as I leap off that cliff.

Yes, here we are. By the time you’re reading this, we’ll be standing on the bottom screaming “YEAH!! Let’s do it again!!”

First up is (logically) the launch

  • BoDo’s first post slid in with a warm welcome.
  • Then we went into the beginnings and the why’s of BoDo.
  • With the why’s over, next came the who’s - the BoDo team, Cat, Nt and Jay.
  • There were yet more who’s when we brought in the power of BoDo, our visiting authors. In alphabetical order, we introduced Alina Hagen (Alina’s In-sights) of Creative Latitude and Alina Design, Dr. Tammy Lenski (Creative Conversations) of I Can’t Say That! and Lenski Strategic, Erin Harris (Erin Reviews) of Sanguin Theory, ME “Liz” Strauss (Write with ME) of Successful Blog (and so much more), Mark McGuinness (Creative Coaching) of Wishful Thinking, Stefan Bean (Bean’s Biz) of PulseCreativePartners.com and Thomas Stephan, (Dyer Straits) known as Tom.
  • After came an invite to share your face

    • BoDo, Gravatars and Community.

Then the first series, BoDo Niblets started

    • Introduction to the Starting Out and Setting Up Series.
    • Asking the question, Are You Ready?
    • Declaring Who’s Ready (Alina, Cat, Jay, Leslie, Neil and Stefan).
    • Then who’s Taking It Personally.
    • We’re Taking it Personally (Alina, Cat, Danita , Jay, Leslie, Neil and Stefan).
    • The inevitable, Clients, Oh My!
    • Who has Clients? (Cat, Jay, Leslie, Neil and Stefan).

In between, we had more firsts

    • BoDo’s first poll How Experienced Are You? (The poll will run until the end of the two week series, so there’s still time if you haven’t clicked a selection).
    • Podcast Humpday reviewed a podcast with James Archer of Forty Media.
    • Alina shares in-sights to the corporate world.
    • Ask jay has a client moment.
    • Thomas (Tom) Stephan of Dyer Straits did too!
    • Resourceful Friday brought in business of design blogs - Daniel Schutzsmith’s GrapicDefine, Jen Gordon’s FreelanceTipster and John Rubio’s CREATEaPRO.com.

And that’s about it really. Tomorrow will be the first of our Sunday Stressbusters. It’s also where we get to figure out if our weekly newsletter works (wish us luck).

The new week will start off with the issue of money, following on with location, equipment and accounting. Then there’ll be a little something about the poll. And finally, we’ll sign off with a recap of the series.

    Until the next
    Weekly Recap,
    cat
