Hi Jess,
nice read, had not run into it before.

To me sustainability is an evolving process that requires synergy between many different factors. Not just environmental , social and economical but also the local variations of these relative to existing infrastructure and methodologies.

Sustainability in my eyes brings new meaning and real purpose to the design profession and it's a much more challenging and interesting challenge than the traditional form and function.

The practice of sustainable design brings new relevance to the design process and it's place in business.

Hey Jess,

Incidentally I have just introduced the subject of sustainable design as part of the design course that i give at a school nearby!! Many of the reasons were the same as you lined out!! As designers we have the ability to think more into what goes into the product desgined or service provided, we can explore and visualise...it's our Job!!!
It was great to get to know another designers views on sustainable design and thanks for breaking the myths!!
